I was going to post these on Flickr, but they’re right here, right now…
Waiting for B’s inspection.

Tea cup lineup
One of the tests – notice how the wax is slightly dimpled and not flat.

Tea cup candle
The wick was too small on this one…

Candle experiment - fail
And just because I can, here are some sugar skulls MOB made for Halloween.

Sugar skulls - yum

Sugar skulls - tasty

How on earth are the sugar skulls made? They’re awesome.
The failed candle reminds me of some sort of geological catastrophe!
The sugar skulls are the sort made in Mexico for the “day of the dead” – it was a lengthy process… The moulds were a Christmas present to MOB, to make the skulls you need sugar (of course) and meringue powder – which she got in June – and maybe some other stuff (I was in London when they were made). The meringue binds the sugar together, then it goes in the mould, is turned out, the two halves are iced together and then decorated (icing, beads, shiny things etc). They aren’t meant to be eaten, but (apart from the beads and shiny things) are composed of 99% sugar.
I did sneak a very small bit of the skull, it tasted…sweet!
